Movies For Kids
The films can touch the hearts of young people who are divorcing. From a psychological standpoint, the films to fulfill two basic types children of divorce practice.
1. There are films that are specifically in the divorce itself, such as Liar Liar, imagine, or Mrs. ET Doubtfire. Here, a child can identify with what other kids can go through and feel less isolated in their experience.
2. The second subject that is useful for children of divorce centers around the loss and loss adjustment boy hero. Films such as Harry Potter, The Karate Kid, Cinderella and the Wizard of Oz. Everyone in the loss of prestige.
If you look carefully at children movies you will discover that many of these children come from family structures that are anything but traditional. Y not often think of divorce as a movie – but where is the father Elliot? The Karate Kid (Daniel was raised by a single mother) and The Wizard of Oz (Dorothy is an orphan raised by her aunt and uncles) are two wonderful movies, respectively, about a teenager and a teenager who must deal with the lack of parental care and long term to something more.
One wonders why these issues are so popular, so many children love these movies have intact families. The answer to this question is very simple and yet profound way.
Children want more than their parents. They always do, and receive usually Unless you really want. It is the nature of human life. If you have two parents, father or stepfather, all yearn for more.
Children and adolescents have a natural desire to explore the past of his family to an outside world to find love, support and validation. In The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy is an adventure some adult males insufficient, the Lion, the Scarecrow and Tin Man, woman facing the fear in the guise of the Wicked Witch of the West. She comes to terms family life when she agrees that these men and the Wizard were just people – like her – trying to be better than them.
In ET, Elliot alien is a friend, and this special category. Everyone can understand the desire to have a special friend that can make every day magical.
In Karate Kid, Daniel (Dr. in the 2010 remake) is a child raised by a single mother who earns one of the great pleasures of life – a foster parent mentoring. How many children end with the divorce of replacing the parents are coaches, teachers, ministers, or rabbis – and sometimes even psychotherapists – who really make a difference in what you want to be?
You can not leave the issue without touching the great contemporary classic, Harry Potter. Harry is a young man facing the loss of both parents, while living with her wicked aunt and uncle. Harry's adventure in another world speaks to all children who are nostalgic for their own sense of particularity, a new series of substitute parents and the desire to be identified.
Then go to the movies, rent and watch at home with their children. You do not causing great debate. Just be there when they see the movie is good parenting in my book.
It can evoke a thought, feeling, a tear, a desire. And all that is good. What's even better if you're in the mix when it occurs.
