my movies on my computer play HD surround sound when connected to my HDTV with surround sound system?

I 1080p and 720p several movies on my computer and was wondering if I connected my computer to my TV, and when I play movies on your TV (with surround sound system related) the film project and surround sound? I can not really say how long my HD movies have 5.1 sound or not since I played on my laptop, but I suppose they do?

If the decoding computer, then you need to connect the output of the PC surround sound system via a digital audio cable (coaxial or S / PDIF) If television is the decoding (rare, but possible), then the work is good too.
