Cork is an ideal city for festivals

The second city of the Republic of Ireland Cork, Dublin is the first.

It is built on an island, two channels of the River Lee, which covers both sides, while the nineteenth-century suburban sprawl over the surrounding hills. This gives the city a compact design and definition clear.

Cork City origins in the seventh century, when St. Finbarr founded a monastery and school on the site of the impressive Gothic cathedral nineteenth century St. Finbarr today. A settlement grew around the monastic foundation, resulting in a mangrove swamp in the middle of the day. More recently, Cork has seen much violence and suffering for the Irish Civil War and Anglo-Saxon cities of republican history is well documented in the local museum.

As part of Republic, Cork continued to grow as a port, a university town and cultural center of Dublin assert their independence. In 2005, she will be the European Capital Culture and a major new art gallery opening is scheduled for the university, probably in early 2004.

One of the joys of Cork is that its size is more human it has to offer can be explored on foot.

Cork is an ideal city for festivals, the largest and most prestigious of which are early Film Festival October and a jazz festival in the last two weekends of October. Theres also an international festival of choral music at the beginning of May a festival in September and a festival of theater and dance outside in late October.

All tower sites for entertainment and arts. The center of artistic activity is the alternative Triskel Arts Centre. Has temporary exhibitions of contemporary art, a cinema that shows art films and a continuous program of concerts, DJ nights, comedy, drama and poetry readings.

The first major theater of Cork Opera House, Emmet Place, which puts high-quality theater, jazz and pop, dance, opera and comedy, the joint Crescent Theatre has a more eclectic program of drama, comedy and music, and a selection of nightclubs largely irrelevant ordinary is the city where the club more interesting, with a tremendously diverse list of DJs and live performances each week.

The loft offers a range of productions small-scale theater, while the Firkin Crane Theatre at the Institute of Choreography and Dance, O'Connell Square, Shandon is the best place to take dance classical and contemporary. Classical music concerts held at the School of Music Union Quay and City Hall.

There are plenty of holes good irrigation in the city and if all you want is a drink, do not need a guide to finding a place where some of the citys oldest pubs worth visiting for its atmosphere. Many bars have music, traditional or otherwise. Wherever you are, it is a difficult city for fun.
