Best Picture Oscar at the Academy Awards
Each January, the entertainment community and film fans from around the world turn their attention to Oscar. The interest and anticipation builds a fever pitch that led to the Oscar broadcast in February, when hundreds of millions of moviegoers to the music attend the glitzy ceremony and received the greatest honor in cinema.
The reward achievement Oscar last year over the film as determined by some of the world's most successful artists and film professionals. The nearly 6,000 Academy members vote for the Oscar secret ballots, which are operated by the audit firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers International. Auditors maintain absolute secrecy until the presenters of the show opens the envelopes and announce the winners on TV Live.
Prizes are awarded for outstanding individual or collective efforts in 25 categories. The members select the winners of more than five nominees in each category, are determined by members of the branch of the Academy. (For example, publishers may not nominate the film for the realization film award editing.) The only Exceptions are for Best Picture, for which candidates are selected by all members, and the best foreign language films, which are designated by a membership committee of all branches.
In addition to regular annual price conferred by membership, the Board of Governors is empowered to give science and technology Awards awards, honors, achievements and special honors. The rights to broadcast the annual Oscar broadcast to provide the bulk of income from the rich to the organization and varied activities throughout the year.
Away from the highly anticipated television event and the world is today, the first ceremony of the Academy Awards took place outside the public eye during an Academy banquet in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Two hundred seventy people attended the dinner May 16, 1929 in flower in the hotel room, tickets $ 5 results. Was it a case full of long speeches, the president of the Academy, Douglas Fairbanks, but made quick work of the distribution of figurines.
There was little suspense when the awards were presented this evening: the beneficiaries had already been announced three months ago. That all changed the following year, however, when the Academy has decided to keep the results secret until the ceremony, but gave a list in advance to newspapers for publication at 11 pm on the night of the awards. This policy continued until 1940 when, to the consternation of the Academy, Los Angeles Times broke the embargo and released the names of the winners in its issue of afternoon – which was the Guests arriving at the ceremony. This led to the Academy in 1941 to adopt a system of sealed envelopes still in use today.
Despite measuring only 13 ½ inches high, the Oscar statuette is as wide as the highest honor of the film industry. Officially called the Merit Award of the Academy The Oscar is awarded in recognition of the highest level of success in the production of videos.
